MIDDLETON ARTS COMMITTEE
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2008 5:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Conhaim, Boswell, Hassert, Mackey

1. Minutes of 1-10-08
Moved by Hassert, seconded by Boswell, to approve the minutes of 1-10-08. Motion carried.
2. Welcome Meghan Thumm Mackey to the Arts Committee
Mackey introduced herself to the committee, and the committee welcomed her.
3. Police Station Art (Conhaim)
The committee discussed the upcoming meeting with the Police Chief and Zimmerman Architects to be held on Tuesday, March 11, at 6:00 p.m. The Committee discussed putting together a powerpoint presentation with examples of police station art.
4. RFP – Public Art Master Planner (Attoun)
Tom Borrup, Community and Cultural Development, of Minneapolis, MN, is working on an proposal to send in response to the Arts Committees’ RFP for a public art master. Borrup will have time to start working on the project in July of 2008 and anticipates that the project will take between 3 and 4 months.
5. Temporary Art and Low-Cost Permanent Art (Hassert)
Hassert gave a powerpoint presentation on temporary and low-cost permanent art examples.
6. Big Event Restaurant / Art Crawl (Attoun)
The Arts Committee will not be participating in the Big Event Restaurant / Arts Crawl this year, but would possibly be interested in participating in the event in future years.
Attoun handed out a brochure of artwork from the Iowa City Public Art Program to show examples of art that was shown in Iowa City’s revolving sculpture pad.
8. Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned at 6:26 P.M. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 20, at 5:30 P.M.
